Humayun Ahmed is our Co-Founder & Co-Executive Director, and an instructor who has taught all of the sciences - as well as mathematics, English, formal logic, and other subjects - at both the high school and university levels for over seven years. Over the course of his career, Humayun has worked with such organizations as Prep101, Oxford
Learning, One Class, SOS Toronto, and California State University Northridge. An education entrepreneur, he has also founded non-profit initiatives such as the University of Toronto MCAT and LSAT Preparatory Club. Outside his role as Co-Founder at 99point9, Humayun continues to
be Business Partner at Oxford Learning, where he and Sophia are working to implement MCAT instruction at 130+ learning centres internationally.
Humayun most enjoys teaching students who struggle with integrative, seemingly-difficult subjects like organic chemistry and physics. In his "from scratch" lectures, he quickly but coherently takes students of all knowledge levels from the basic science to the most minute details of every MCAT science concept. He also aims to bring lessons he's learnt from his own
academic journey to every student he interacts with by presenting concepts in a simplistic manner, entertaining lots of questions, and fostering a light atmosphere in his lessons.
Finally, as interested as he is in enabling achievement in others, Humayun has always also believed in personally maintaining high academic standards: he graduated summa cum laude in biology and neuroscience, and is presently a graduate student completing his M. Sc. with the Narod Lab, one of the world's foremost research groups in breast cancer genetics, and has done research in the past across vasculature, neuropsychology, psychological disorders, microbiology, molecular biology, pediatric radiology, pain medicine, and health policy. Outside of academia, research, and, of course, teaching, Humayun takes interest and has experience in medical shadowing/observation, curriculum development, editing, corporate development and investment analysis, entrepreneurship, management consulting, conference coordination, social media and marketing consulting, economics, politics, philosophy, public speaking, and the medical school application process - feel free to ask him anything about these areas!
