Every two months during the year and every month during the summer, we run a twelve-day, eight-hour-per-day in-person course at several universities. While some other companies only aim to get you to an average score, we'll take you through every little detail. Our classes are interactive, too - you won't be sitting there listening to a lecture. Instead, you'll be getting one-on-one attention, completing exercises, and perpetually answering questions, all in a small-group setting. Adding up our in-person, online video, and online one-on-one hours, and factoring in that you get help until you get the score you want, we offer you the most hours of any company in the industry.
While other companies charge you up to $200 per hour for one-on-one help, one-on-one help is free with our courses, purely because we want to help you as much as possible. Every two months, starting on the first day of the in-person course and ending twelve days later, we'll be available to you 24/7 via Facebook and phone to guide you one-on-one. We also give you instructions and reach out approximately once a week in between courses, just to make sure you're on track. If you're inclined to procrastinate, or benefit from a bit of motivating on occasion, our check-ups help!
We understand that not everyone has the time to come into class; as such, we've created videos that go through everything we teach in-person. You get to keep these videos forever, and you can watch them whenever you like; we also work with you one-on-one alongside our video course. Take it slow, or breeze through everything in a few days – the choice is yours.
One AAMC practice test aside, you won’t need to purchase any study materials – our PDFs take you through everything you could hope to know for the MCAT. And they’re so bottom-up that even tenth-grade students can – and have – used and loved them.
Our instructors don't just consistently score in the 99.99th percentile on official qualifiers - they also have a combined 21 years of teaching experience. We have near-100% student satisfaction, and students say they "wish their profs taught like [us]". We've been recruited by and have taught at companies like Prep101, Next Step Test Prep., Kaplan, TPR, Manhattan Prep., OneClass, and Oxford Learning - for example, Sophia was the top-rated course instructor at Prep101’s undergrad. course division for four years. We have also contributed to published test prep. books and manuals, and, most importantly, we have worked with 10,000+ students directly and another 17,000+ indirectly. In short, we know what works and doesn't about other companies' strategies and students’ preparatory mindsets, and have developed our course in response to existing gaps in the test prep. industry.
Once you pay for the course once, you get to take it whenever it’s offered, no matter how well you did on your test, or whether you even took an official test. There's no expiry!
We love it when people aim high! We believe it's entirely possible for anyone to score in the 99.99th percentile with the right type and amount of effort; as a result, we won't stop helping you until you get the score you want. While other companies consider their job done if they boost your score by one or two points, and while even the AAMC tells you that you likely won't improve much from your initial score upon a resit, we believe there's no sense in a score guarantee that doesn't get you to a competitive statistic, and we know from having taught and mentored more than 10,000 people that anyone can get to 515+ - the reason people don't tend to do much better on their second or third test is that they're studying the wrong way! Once we fix that, there’s no limit to what you can do.
On top of your MCAT coursework, we’ll help you plan out your med. school application profile, get connected to cool extra-curriculars via the 17,000+-person professional development group we run, send e-mails to researchers, doctors, and professors for shadowing opportunities, and gain translatable skills like writing, coding, editing, researching, and public speaking, all of which are inherently relevant to med. school. As published researchers and speakers, and individuals who have done work in a range of disciplines, we know how to get you opportunities. Anything you're remotely interested in is fair game; we'll help you get involved! You can also purchase discounted add-ons that’ll get you access to interview coaching and application essay editing.
While most courses tell you to "read the passage, get the main idea, and then answer questions without looking back", we don't rely on gimmicks and time-saving tactics - instead, we entirely change the way you think about reading, so that you're finishing in half-time and breezing through your test rather than picking out which questions are too hard for you to attempt. This prepares you not solely to absolutely ace the MCAT, but also to excel in professional life, be it in medicine, or in any other discipline. You can't skip hard passages when you're going through a real case – this is why, while other companies try to boost your performance to help you pass, we aim to upgrade your competence, making performing well on the MCAT easy and preparing you for your career in the process. This is also why we emphasize analysis over practice: sitting 50+ practice tests and checking your answers won't get you a 515 - dedicated analysis and critical thinking will! We show you how to get on another level of textual understanding through improving your command of language, argumentation, and thinking, using methods that draw from disciplines like neuroscience, psychology, sociology, linguistics, and computer science, and encouraging you to engage with materials that challenge you, making the MCAT seem trivial in comparison.
Ultimately, we hope to be more than just your instructors: we hope to become your friends! During and after the course, we’ll be your biggest cheerleaders, your strongest shoulder to cry on when the going gets tough, and your most enthusiastic referees when the time comes to write your med. school application, or should you ever be interested in other developing your career. Many of our students have gone on to become our colleagues, teaching or tutoring for us, and have referred us candidly to their friends; we still hang out with so many of the friends we’ve made via this course, and we love hearing about how you’re progressing in life! Our class is also a community in itself – we encourage everyone to interact with and support everyone else, so you’ll feel as though you’re among friends. Finally, no matter your hurdles, we’re hear to help – we’ve had experience coaching people with panic disorder, depression, ADHD, OCD, working memory issues, generalized anxiety disorder, troubling family circumstances, and lots of other personal situations; one of our instructors also has panic disorder, so she personally understands how taxing it can be. We’ve got lots of coping strategies, and we’re willing to work twice as hard to make sure nothing gets in the way of your success. Oh, and we feed and caffeinate you in class!
Unlike you (and sometimes, unfortunately, even the people you trust most), we have endless belief in you, because we know first-hand that if you put the right kind of work in, you get results. We'll do our best to advocate for you to your parents, friends, teachers, and advisors, as well as to med. schools themselves; we'll push you to keep your ambitions limitless, and perpetually improve yourself until you get to where you want to be. We've made new graduates into chief executives, gotten mature doctors to undergo re-licensing in new countries, and helped people with very low GPAs get a second degree and enter the school of their choice. When you think you can't, we know you can, and we'll convince you of it by showing you just how quickly you can improve yourself! As published researchers and speakers, and individuals who have done work in a range of disciplines, we know how to get you opportunities. Anything you're remotely interested in is fair game; we'll help you get involved!
We diagnose your weaknesses as soon as you sign up, and use them to tailor your study plan.
Work online at your own pace, and get one-on-one help and free advice during course times. Come in twenty times, or once. Finish everything in two days, two weeks, or two months. The choice is yours. You even get a say in when courses run, and in which snacks and beverages we bring to class. Because we don't want anyone left out for financial reasons, we also do our best to accommodate your situation if you reach out.
During the course, we check in on you daily, making sure you're getting stuff done! As of 2018, we will be following up weekly in between courses as well!
When we launch it, you'll have access to a proprietary technology that will test you out loud on material as you learn it, call and text your parents and friends if you're not meeting your goals, and maybe even reward you with a little something if you do great!
If we feel you're doing your best, we'll be available to mentor you in your career development, write references, and maybe even give you some work experience!
